5 ways for sensitive people to remain centered during transitions
Here are some tips for my fellow hyper-sensitive friends
who may be undergoing a big transition, like relocation or a new job:
1. Show up for your meditation practice, even when it seems impossible to do so. It is during times of major disruption that a sacred ritual can provide you with the familiarity and radical support you need. Even if it means hitting the floor, mat, pillow, chair, etc., after a super-long day of physically moving stuff or emotionally processing stuff — this is when your practice matters most. Showing up for meditation is the same as showing up for one’s self. Discipline is the greatest form of self-love.
2. Invest in a pair of Loop earplugs. I have never had a product change my life in the way these earplugs have. My noise sensitivity was becoming so severe that I dreaded leaving the house to do anything in LA. Add the stress of relocating; every noise feels like nails on a chalkboard.
I use the Enhance kind when I’m going to meet with friends and want to hear them but not the people in the background. I use the Experience ones when I want to go to a live music show and not absorb the conversations of everyone around me. I use the Quiet ones during air travel, or when the neighbors were throwing a party and I couldn’t fall asleep. I am an affiliate for this company because once I bought a pair, I knew I needed to tell all my super-sensitive, psychic friends about it.
3. Stay shielded. Shielding is an exercise that happens in the third eye. You envision a shield around you and all the external energy bouncing off the shield and being returned to its sender. When you shield before you move, explore, transition, etc., your body will be in the proper relaxed state to protect you from unwanted interaction and generate new creative ideas from the soul. If you’ve made it this far, treat yourself to my free Shielding meditation (part of the 21-day psychic meditation course).
4. Make a playlist that you can return to time and time again. There is consistency AND flexibility to music that will carry you through new landscapes and still evoke the same “you-ness” you wish to maintain during the transition. Music is a godsend. I toggle between A Tribe Called Quest, Vegyn, and a playlist I made for walking meditation. It’s a public playlist, so that you can use it, too.
5. Eat well and sleep hard. Eat food that gives you energy and get to bed early. But y’all know that already. Sensitive people know we have no option but to prioritize care of mind, body, and spirit.
Wishing you the best.
——— >> Bonus: Call an old friend. Call upon someone who has known you for various stages in your life, and has already watched you go through numerous changes, portals, and transitions. They say you can’t make old friends, so hold on and include the ones you love in the new steps you’re taking in life. Some things can truly last a lifetime.
